U.S. Shipping & Customs Fee Information

Why we currently use FedEx for U.S. orders

  • At this time, Japan Post services are unavailable for shipments to the United States.
    For this reason, all U.S. orders are currently shipped via FedEx.
  • We use DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping, which means all applicable duties and taxes are collected at checkout.
    No additional charges will be requested upon delivery.
  • Please note that this shipping arrangement is temporary and may change if Japan Post services resume in the future.

 

About customs-related fees

  • When shipping with FedEx, customs clearance fees may apply depending on the contents of your order.
  • Some fees are included in the shipping cost, while others are displayed separately in the cart to ensure transparency.

 

FedEx Customs Classification Fee (by Product Type)

FedEx requires customs declarations to be classified by product category.
If a shipment contains multiple product types, each product type must be declared separately, which results in an additional customs classification fee.

This fee is charged per product type, not per item.

The fee will appear in your cart as:
“FedEx Customs Classification Fee (Product Type)”


How to reduce customs classification fees

To help keep fees as low as possible, we recommend:

  • Purchasing multiple items within the same product type
  • Avoiding orders that combine many different product categories, if possible

Orders containing a wide variety of product types may incur higher total classification fees.

We understand this may influence how you shop, and we appreciate your understanding.

 

U.S. Tariff (15%)

  • For U.S. orders, a 15% U.S. tariff is applied at checkout.
  • This rate reflects the applicable reciprocal tariff on Japanese-made products
    (excluding certain categories such as steel-related items).
  • Because we ship via DDP, FedEx pays this tariff to U.S. Customs on your behalf.
    You will not be asked to pay any additional duties or taxes after placing your order.
  • Please note: Most of the products that are not made in Japan are not displayed in our U.S. market, as the applicable tariff rates and import conditions for those items are not clearly defined at this time.

  • No surprise charges will be requested upon delivery
  • Fees are determined by U.S. customs regulations and FedEx requirements.

If postal services via Japan Post become available again, or if there are changes to U.S. import duties or customs procedures, we will review and update our shipping methods and fees accordingly.
