U.S. De Minimis Exemption Ended – Aug 29, 2025

Notice Regarding U.S. Customs Duties

US Government has announced that the “de minimis exemption” will no longer apply to shipments from all countries starting August 29, 2025. This means that even packages valued at under USD 800 is subject to import duty upon import.

US government has issued the additional announcement on 15th of August, 2025.

Here is the part of announcement.

"the Secretary of Commerce has notified President Trump that adequate systems are now in place to fully and expeditiously process and collect duties for articles otherwise eligible for duty-free de minimis treatment on a global basis...Carriers delivering shipments to the United States through the international postal network, or other qualifying parties that are approved by CBP, must collect and remit duties to CBP using one of the two methodologies described below....If products from multiple countries of origin are contained within the package, only the highest IEEPA rate will be used to determine the specific duty rate."

Import duty is generally collected at the destination country, however, US government requests the postal system in the each country to collect the import duty and remit it to US. Any shipment for which import duty has not been collected is not allowed to enter the US.

Japan Post is not yet ready to handle this process, so we are currently unable to ship to the U.S.

We will update this page when we have new info.
